Program Phases

  • The chief role of principals in family engagement is to understand and facilitate collaboration between educators and families by modeling collaborative behaviors, setting expectations, creating a supportive environment through effective communication and transparency, providing training and discussions with teachers, and acting as a champion and cheerleader to foster a collaborative culture of family engagement.

  • During the phase of developing a comprehensive grasp of family engagement research and best practices, principals will engage in an inquiry-based approach through a problem of practice. They will delve into research, explore relevant literature, and engage in reflective questioning to address specific challenges or areas of improvement in family engagement.

  • Upon gaining a thorough understanding of the chief role as principals and developing a comprehensive grasp of family engagement research, principals will embark on a transformative journey within a dynamic learning community. Within this learning community, principals will identify a strategic partnership opportunity that will serve as the cornerstone for their collaboration with a coach and partnership growth groups. Together, they will engage in an academic exploration to reimagine and reshape family engagement practices, fostering an environment that promotes continuous learning and innovation within their school.

  • Having identified a strategic partnership opportunity, principals now focus on equipping themselves with the necessary tools, resources, and comprehensive family engagement tools to drive collaborative growth and innovation within their schools. This phase empowers principals to implement effective strategies, leverage resources, and strengthen the home-school partnership to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Principals continue their journey of collaborative growth and innovation within their schools. Having built their capacity with tools, resources, and comprehensive family engagement research, principals now shift their focus to developing a strategic partnership plan. This phase emphasizes co-creation and collaboration with key stakeholders, including families, staff, community members, and the coaching team, to design a comprehensive and actionable partnership plan that aligns with their school's vision, goals, and values.
